I know many of you will probably have asked for fish for christmas. So remember, when you unwrap your moray eel or pufferfish, that it's for life, not just a few days of fun. I know the the British Society for Fish who have been abused or overlooked (BSFAA) have a phone number, 01234 545454 to offer advice to anyone who needs it, in terms of caring for a new fish.

I for one am hoping that at christmas, some tench, trout, perch and gurnards find new loving homes that last them many years.

I wanted a painstakingly reconstructed North Sea ecosystem complete with bottom feeders but my mum said no.

I am getting a crappy solid gold hen coop with clockwork hens instead.
