Everyone likes the versatile yet fun and on the go spork. Perfect for scooping yet forking! They come in a range of exciting styles some more spo., some more ork orientated but always a useful utensil for all your cuttlerific needs. I think they need a forum so we can share spork anecdotes, discuss sporks through the ages and that ever controversial debate as to what side of the spork you prefer...spo or ork..it could get heated!

Is it just me or is a spork simply a runcible spoon with a dumb name?

So they took it away, and were married next day
By the Turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined on mince, and slices of quince,
Which they ate with a spork.

Doesn't have the same ring, does it?

It's an interesting point, and one I feel merits further discussion.

Quote:
Lear does not appear to have had any firm idea of what the word "runcible" means. His whimsical nonsense verse celebrates words primarily for their sound, and a specific definition is not needed to appreciate his work. However, since the 1920s (several decades after Lear's death), modern dictionaries have generally defined a runcible spoon to be a fork with three prongs, such as a pickle fork, which is curved like a spoon, and also has a cutting edge. It should be noted that this definition is not consistent with Lear's drawing of a "runcible spoon", mentioned above, nor does it account for the other "runcible" objects in Lear's poems.

I think Lear's reluctance to offer a definitive description is problematic, but shouldn't shut down further debate.
