|
|
What happened to the computer forum? or did I dream it?
Anyway mac people, I have a question. I have to layout this long complicated survey thing and i was wondering if you had any idea what software I should use. I was thinking indesign. Any suggestions?

i would heartily endorse indesign - more stable than quark, completely synchronised into other adobe shizzle as part of creative suite (photoshop, golive, illustrator, acrobat etc), very easy to pick up if you've worked with, say, pshop or illustrator, or pagemaker (though a bit confuzzulating if you're used to working with quark) - lots of the ways of working and keystrokes are the same.
it's also very easy to export to pdf...
however, a legit copy is rather expensive... |

you would say that - it shifts the emphasis away from word monkeys and towards picture monkeys |

Must admit I find illy and indesign so much better for typography stuff, you can really go to down and play about. Coupled with photoshop you can make pictures from words |

the typographic side is exponentially better - so much more fine control over everything.
trouble is, historically subs never had that amount of control over the visual structure of the page, and all too few have teh skillz to properly utilise indesign atm (fuck it, all too few of them could use quark ) |

Always liked the clipping paths in quark, rescan button is dead good! I haven't used quark for years
I made a mini brouchure in indesign, i fell in love with it. |
