I've been listening to some sounds, with my ears...
Beck - The Information - always liked his stuff but this is good, way better than Guero, which was alright but a bit meh in parts. New Round is the highlight for me, but it's all good.
Bert Jansch - The Black Swan - guess it's kind of folky. Features a few people including Beth Orton. Not stunningly powerful or anything but pleasant enough.
Lemonheads - It's A Shame About Ray - Hee! Finally.
Benjamin Biolay - Home - French, pretty good. Bit 60s Gainsbourg/Bardot classic in a way, but that's a cop out of a description! Like it.
Bellowhead - Burlesque - I lied, I haven't listened to this yet. Went to see 'em though and they were bonkers, but awesome. There's about 11 of 'em and it's pretty much indescribable; crazy folk collective. Suspect the recorded version won't be much cop but worth a try.
Jurassic 5 - Feedback - Got a soft spot for J5; just something likeable and accessible about their stuff, without any downside. This seems a bit average though, which I'd kinda expected. Needs another listen.
Longpigs - The Sun Is Often Out - Only got it cos I wish it was ~1996 again. Good enough! |

Oh whatever comes my way. Had a great hour on Friday in a local pub where the landlord loves his metal and was shouting along to Motorhead at 4 in the morning!
What I am so NOT into right now is what am aquaintance of mine calls "lesbian music". That kind of soft elektro stuff thats not get-up-and-boogie. I know some great DJanes who'll have you on the floor shaking your thang but I've been to three events in the last week where it has been chronic.
I tried to talk about it with one of the DJanes thre other day but I was a bit tired and emotional off the time.
ie ripped off my tits. |

Gang of Four - What We All Want - best intro ever! S'not an amazing tune in its entirety but the rhythm is fantastic.
Jack & Jeffrey Lewis - Moving - the whole album's a bit eclectic (see also: Singing Tree) but this song's pretty cute.
Looper - Columbo's Car - Ace bunch of songs and stories by the former Belle & Sebastian bloke. Pretty old now, rediscovered it the other day.
Lhasa - Anywhere On This Road - This album's not all good, or at least I haven't given it enough time, but this is genius; kind of a lost in the desert feel to it. |

The Bluegrass Tribute to Radiohead. Strange! Really quite good though. I didn't/don't really know what bluegrass is but it sounds alright. Probably too many different covers of the stuff now, i.e. Radiodread etc, but it's still likeable. The quality and clarity is what stands out for me - no vocals, so it's all about the depth and detail in the instruments.
The Duhks - The Duhks. Bunch of Canadians with a few Irish folk-like tracks; not all on the money as it's quite diverse and varied, but some tracks work well. 'Everybody Knows' is worth checking out.
Half Man Half Biscuit - Eno Collaboration. "I know Bono, and 'e knows Ono, and she knows Eno's phone goes thus: Brian's not home he's at the North Pole but if you'd like to leave a, weird noooooise...". Ace. Also, Hair Like Brian May Blues, and "I hang my rope down at the crossroads, to bring my poor heart ease, but the Devil's built a bypass, and cut down all of the trees"
Bis - Social Dancing. Bis! Fucking Bis! Bis were shit. Never mind. They remind me of the 90s and that's more than enough. Besides, they weren't really that bad. Just don't say "Eurodisco". |

I see it's good, but it doesn't work for me. "Bring Your Religion" is maybe my favourite off there, perhaps because it's simple. |

Colours are Brighter - a charity record for kids, but it's on Rough Trade. Features some ace stuff like 'Go Go Ninja Dinosaur' by Four Tet, but best of all, The Monkeys Are Breaking Out The Zoo by Belle and Sebastian. Downloaded it first, but it's good so I felt bad and bought it off Amazon.

Aye, Marie She's the Swedish Annie Lennox of Roxette Swedish Eurythmics Her solo work is Prolly outside yer time frame tho
Why don't you get signed up to last.fm and scrobble yer stuff so we can all hear it? There's about three threads on the go atm
I used up all my emusic.com free downloads today (40 tracks ) so that's it until April unless I snoop around elsewhere for free stuff
Hope you has a great time tomorrow at Tomas's gig |

Two Lone Swordsmen - From the Gone Chapel
It's fucking ace!!!
A total suprise cos I've got a fair bit of their early stuff but not bothered until now with this cos I hadn't liked the tracks I'd heard, but as an album it works really well - it's really dark and quite sexy in a bit of kinky leather way. IT's a wee bit death in vegas but also a bit Alec Empire. I do like this a lot...
