|
|
Right, me and Hiccup are kicking this off, it's basically as suggested in previous threads, I've knocked up a basic set of rules to give it a bit of formality, but it's not exactly brain surgery, just keep it tasty
==================================
Teh rulez:
4 rounds/80 minutes per SoundClash
Each SoundClash is made up of two rounds between two contestants; each round should last no longer than 20 minutes; thus each SoundClash comprises 4 20 minute segments, 2 from each contestant
2 week poll/Winner stays on
The ±80 minute SoundClash is then posted up for people to download or stream, and a poll posted up in TCTE Radio Forum for people to vote on which was their favourite SoundClasher; the SoundClasher with the most votes for their segments after two weeks is declared the winner, and stays on to compete in the next SoundClash
First come first served
Challengers are selected on a first come, first served basis, by virtue of declaring their candidacy on this thread; a list will be maintained in the OP of challengers in order; losing SoundClashers cannot apply for a rematch straight after a loss, but can join the queue; if for some reason a selected challenger cannot make a fixture, the next challenger steps up; if a reigning champion cannot make a fixture, the next two eligible challengers compete
Home advantage
Current champions must produce the first segment; where a reigning champion cannot make a fixture, the first challenger by order of application must produce the first segment
Content
There are no rules on content - it can be any music, sound, noise, speech or other audio; it does not need to be beatmatched; it does not need to be mixed as live
Eligibility
Any TCTE poster can play
==================================
So, basically the way it works is Person A knocks up a 20 minute segment, hosts it on the tintin, and PMs the link to Person B, who downloads it, listens to it, and knocks up their own 20 minute segment in response. They then host it, send the link to Person A, and it goes round again, till each has done two segments each. They then between them (ie one of them loses a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors and gets landed with the chore) stitch it together as one, sub-80 minute file, and post it up on TCRE podOmatic page (if neither of you has admin rights on it, contact me or Ninja) - then we all get to vote on who we think should win.
...And then it all starts over
I'd suggest that whilst you're working on individual segments, you post them up on non-podcast webspace (ie not on podOmatic) - there are various free services you can use, like Multiply and all them sites mentioned on the Free (or cheap) hosting, file transfer & online storage thread - otherwise those of us subscribed to your podcast will get to hear individual bits of the SoundClash before it's finished, and it'll spoil the fun.
Sorry that's all a bit wordy, I hope it makes sense. Any questions post up here. And if you want to join the fun, post up that you want a go, and I'll add you to the fixtures list below.
Happy SoundClashing!

you don't have to actually *do the show* now - it's kind of better if you respond to the segment the other person does first
i was just looking for people to put their name forward so i can add them to the fixtures list... |

Krzzle, p'rhaps you and hiccup could do a quick back and forth for us to have a lil listen to, to get the idea? |

I'm going to finish my last segment this evening, then you can hear the whole show in it's entirety.
Not much to it really, one person records a 20 minute segment of whatever they like, the other person listens to it and records a 20 minute section. Repeat once, stick the four segments together and voilá, 80 minute radio show. |

Not really, any two bits of audio can be stuck together. Doesn't have to sound similar or anything. I was thinking of putting a boxing bell in between the segments or something. "Ding ding, round 2" sort of thing.
All it really boils down to is creating two 20 minute radio shows, nothing more complicated than that. |
