Bristle's Blog LiteHmmm.
Well, I've been taking stock of some shizz of late, and I'm glad I don't take it too seriously, otherwise it could all be a bit depressing :-/
Essentially I've lost two years of my life working for nothing on Project X, which of late has pretty much thudded to a halt. Marvellous.
I even wrote a book... Except outside of Project X it's utterly meaningless. Perfect.
Then I realise the majority of my entire body of written work for the past 4 and a half years has been on interweb bollock boards - I'd estimate 10-20,000 words a week. Great.
And all the paying work I've got in the pipeline is just that - in the fucking pipeline
Ain't life grand, gotta larf etcizzle.
Still, I've got loads of ideas for Project Y!

it's never a waste
even if project x doesn't materialise then i bet you've learned lots and all that shit
interweb boards are bollocks, but they've encouraged you to learn how to use lots of technology shizzle and make nearly 24hours worth of radio shows
and you've also made new friends etc

What's yer book? Technical stuff? If so, don't bin your research - it could get you places. If not, then why's it so tightly tied to your project?
Oh aye, and I added you to MSN but I might have cocked it up.

well, it's about as tightly tied to proect x as you could imagine, it's essentially theorising about the nature of effective communication through visual and textual elements, though there's more generalised stuff too. it's basically a handbook for a design director to indoctrinate them into the core ideas going into the project, and how i see the design side slotting in, based on the history of certain elements within publishing.
reading that back it sounds more high falutin' than it is, but such is life

well, things look better now - finally had a response back for the wesite job, and they sound keen, and like they've actually read my detailed proposals. huzzah!
and lovely dezza's offered some very useful advice too. huzzah!
and i'm thinking of dragging out the various book ideas i've not played with for a couple of years as well. huzzah!

reading that back it sounds more high falutin' than it is, but such is life | I dunno, but a lot of that sounds like it could be untied from a specific project and made more general, using the project in question as a case study, IYSWIM. I guess the main thing is a jump from specific handbook to more a set of recommendations.
A brief version of the former could prove very useful looking for jobs as a demonstrator of what you're capable of, and the latter might well find wider appeal.

tonight i am off to see will self talk
talk about what, i have no idea, it was someone else's idea
...but i'm sure it will be interesting, whatever it's about, and it's bound to include lots of long, archaic words, which should give me a boner

will self - very witty & erudite, taller than you'd think, and definitely horse-faced
read some stuff from his latest book, 'the book of dave', seemed quite good.
then got a bit pissed.
no watching 'the breakfast club'

recap of bristle's week off:
klub kabu - lots of fun, bumped into some people haven't seen for ages, put foot in it re break-ups etc, danced a lot, drank a bit, didn't fall over, admired a roof shed (sorry, beach hut), went home, more of same, plus some hippie crack and lashings of hot tea. and red absinth.
had a takeaway from that new shanghai nights place - pretty good, still a tad too much msg, but enough to feel totally stuffed. more beer.
went to see 'hot fuzz' (finally). started slow, but overall v enjoyable with lots of cheap gags.
watched 18 films on telly, dvd and vhs.
went to st werburgh's to visit the city farm, cooed at lots of goats, sheeps, pigses, rabbits, a guinea pig and some birds, but the birds were mostly rubbish. bumped into my mate andy, went back to his for a drink and a natter.
went shopping. bought some kale, and other stuff.
ate, at various times, home made steak pie, home made bacon & cheese puff slippers, bacon butties, lots more bacon, sausage, black pudding and egg, some chinese takeaway leftovers, and, erm, other stuff. plus lashings of steaming hot tea, and plenty of my wakeup coffee.
erm, that's about it. this blogging's a piece of piss
to do in the next few days:
lots of emails etc to keep up with
dozens of film reviews
various branches of the wiki project to work on
that fucking website job
business cards & cv malarkey
finish off my end of soundclash #2

I feel the need for more information on the goat and pigses
was the goat hungry? and did you let it eat/get goat spit all over your shirt?
what colour was the goat?
was it one goat or many goatses?
was there some lovely baby goats, some of which might let you stroke them in a friendly 'i like baby goats' kind of way?
did they try to nibble your finger?
what colour is the pigseses?
did tehy like having their tummy rubbed? - you can tell if they do cos they flop down onto their side and stick their tummy in the air when you stroke them.
