Good question. I asked Mrs RD the same thing, why they were all wearing those traditional clothes. She didn't know. This is the problem with China. Nobody ever knows anything about anything. You are better off asking a white westerner who studies Chinese studies at SOAS, a question about Chinese culture, than asking someone Chinese.
