Drew's blogsittin here, about to have my last ciggarette
been watchin films all day to keep up my spirits and distract me from worrying about other things
feelin angry at david lynch for not bringing ot the second series of twin peaks on dvd, was really in the mood to watch it as well. oh well, roll on nov 21st, not that far away I spose.

the music on twin peaks is ace, and that scary dwarf thing still gives me the creeps. Not a HUGE fan of lynch, he seems to get it spot on or a mile off!
Blue Velvet is one of his best but it is probably Dennis Hopper who made it so good.
Get some rizlas and smoke dumps! That's what I do when the baccy runs out
|
RaverDrew

Yeh I do like blue velvet as well
it's the little things/details that lynch does so well imo
think I might watch dune later, never been able to get through the whole thing without falling asleep mind

Highlander is fucking top stuff, little bit dated looking but its aged better than highlander two and three which are just shit. Don't even get me started on Terminator 3 (they're making a fourth apparently).

I'm a bit cross about that too. I've only seen the first series, so I don't know what happens next
|
RaverDrew
|
I've got the second series, but it seems to be a vhs transfer onto dvd, so the quality aint all that.
Is so tempting to watch it though.
Still, there is supposedly a remastered dvd being released in Australia on 21st of november, so gonna hold out and see what that looks like.
|
sparky lightbourne

you can download the second series if you can do torrents (i can't) i know butchersapron has got it
|
RaverDrew
|
I know, but like I said it's a vhs to dvd transfer and the quality can be a bit sketchy in places.
For a program that has such beautiful attention to detail and a great soundtrack I'd prefer to wait for a re-mastered version.
|
sparky lightbourne
|
me too, i've got the boxed set of the first series so i'd like to wait for a another to go with it

I want this, still love to watch them now but the VHS copy I had is so worn it has really shit sound

you've never lived in london have you?
every one wants a job even the shit ones - some of the jobs i have applied for have had 300+ people applying for them, agencies are even worse - sometimes over a 1,000 people applying for one position. it is insane man... the shitter the job the harder it is to get?!

how come people come to london from places like albania without even having a passport and get jobs?
|
SoreenKid

cos that is largely an urban myth (biggest homeless population in london is squaddies and eastern europeans) and the ones that do find work,l work for peanuts and have no rights, work in shit conditions etc. public sector is always quite easy to get into but even that is canny hard down here.

Had the weirdest dream ever last night
Rushcroft Road in Brixton was being evicted. It soon descended into complete chaos with small scale rioting. There was a call for resistance put out for support. Within a couple of hours a sea of crustys hippies, travellers, ravers etc swamps the whole street. The bailiffs and police retreat back, soundsystems are set up, and a party goes on for days and nights. Hundreds if not thousands of people turn up. Everyone goes wild when the police and all, dissapear completely. Why ? No-one knows, but it smells like victory. There is simply no hassle as the crowds dwindle and partying starts to wind itself down.
It's the most beautiful twilight sky of dawn, and after days of avin it, a small group of us still feelin the buzz decide to take to the streets, whilst they still have a carless, desolate, melancholy. A sense of emptyness and the whole world belonging to the select few that dare to stroll at this hour. the first rays of sun creep over the horizon to blush our already rosy cheeks. There's a chilled bliss in the air. The type you know will never last forever and has to be just sweetly savoured for it's rapidly dwindling half-life.
Sounds all good yeh ?
Well at this point the dream really felt like it had lasted days to me, even though I only got a couple hours kip. The next bit however all took place within about thirty seconds, felt chaotic, horrifying, traumatic and had me in tears 5-10mins after I woke up and had took in the shock.
As we strolled out onto the unussually quieter than normal streets of Brixton there was a huge loud bang, louder than anything, I've heard in my life. The ground and buildings then began shaking, like a sonic boom rocking the town. And then stopped. There was a roar coming from central London. We looked over towards there, and saw a pillar of fire slowly rising, almost in slow motion. The sound of sirens going off in the distance from every direction. Winds going crazy from every direction.
It was obvious there had been some sort of massive explosion in the middle of the city. Everyone around was paralysed staring at this ball of flame, erupting in slow motion like a volcano. I felt sick to the core. God knows how many fatalities there must be. Just as people were coming to terms with what they were witnissing in front of them, regaining there abilities to vocalise there emotions, the ability to vomit, there was a worse surprise in store.
Amid all the "what the fucks?" and cries of despair, we all saw the same thing but couldn't bring ourselves to admit it to each other. Some sort of mushroom cloud was starting to form. No-one needed to say anything, our expressions said it all.
This is when I woke up. I felt numb when I first awoke, but not sad. Just completely shell-shocked and gobsmacked. After i had a cup of coffee I just sat there and burst into tears. Some of them were relief that it had merely been a dream, some of them hopeless despair and sadness, at what I really felt I had just lived through and witnessed.
I don't think I've ever had such a vivid, realistic dream ever. The good bits as well, were just so real, and felt so familiar that it's almost impossible to seperate them from my real life memories. Normally my dreams fade away after a couple of hours, but this seems to be ingrained on my mind like only reality can be.
I don't understand it, I'm not sure I want to. I just hope it's not a premonition of some sort. Never had them before, and don't want to start.
|
wraeth
|
That kind of dream really knocks you for six. It's been ages since I had one like that but I still remember the last one.
I hope it was cathartic writing it down fella, getting it out of your head and into words instead.
I hope it wasn't a premonition too (of course) - we're living in a fucked up world atm.
|
RaverDrew
|
After the initial shock earlier, I hadn't really thought bout it much during the day. Writing it all down has certainly helped. I do feel slightly anxious though that it might resume, or become a theme within my other dreams.
|
wraeth
|
I'm glad that it's receded a bit. Hopefully it won't recur, often these 'major' dreams can be triggered by stress I believe, and you've certainly been under a lot of that recently. You need some relaxation and TLC dude.

I have loads of dreams where I'm in trench, there is a war going on and grenades keep landing at my feet :?
It is proper realistic too
|
RaverDrew
|
The weird thing about it is, that the majority of it wasn't strange in any way at all. It was all pretty mundane and very similar to everyday life. Admitedly it was one hell of a party we were having, but not much more so than many I've been to before. All the people the places, nothing seemed out of the ordinary, it's the kind of thing that I expect could and would happen.
The only thing I found a bit odd, was the ease at which the police n that, gave up the fight. The way they retreated completely, and the way that in the build up to the bomb, they were nowhere to be seen at all. Also after the initial explosion, they could be heard all around in the distance, the sirens etc yet there were none within sight. I've wondered about the significance and sybolism of this.
The bomb was just so out of the blue. So surreal. But I expect if anything like that did happen in real life, I spose that's what it may feel like anyway.

Glad to hear you are thinking positively Drew.
On the dream front, those realistic ones freak you out don't they. I had a sortof similar experience, although obviously a bit less plausible! When I was at uni I dreamt that I had just woken up from my nap in my room, and went to go into the kitchen. Same time, same place, as where I had actually gone to sleep. Same clothes, everything. I saw my flatmate as I was leaving my room, who said "awr have you just been having a cheeky nap?" to which I sheepishly admitted to. We both went into the kitchen, and this is when it got weird.
Before I go on, I should mention that someone from the housing company who owned the flats had told us (in real life!) that our flat was haunted. Stupid, I know, but apparently some girl had jumped out of the window a few years ago and died. I don't know for sure if that is true, and I didn't give it a second thought but rach, my flatmate, was a bit unsettled by this.
Anyway, back to the dream... we were just in the kitchen, and I was chatting to her as she did the washing up, when the remote control from the tv slid right off the chair and slammed heavily into the opposite wall, all by itself! I turned round to say to rach that oh my god, maybe the flat is haunted, but before I could say anything, I felt this huge invisible weight crushing down on my chest, cutting off my wind pipe, I felt like I was choking! And then it got so bad that it was pushing me onto the floor, so I couldn't get up. It felt like something was trying to get into my head, my brain felt hot and set to burst! I couldn't move, and then I woke up.
Really shook me up that one, and I know it sounds ridiculous, because I don't believe in ghosts, but it felt 100% real at the time.
Soz to hijack your blog Drew

the first time i went to glastonbury had a one of these spiritual experiences. on sunday night about 5 of us had decided that we were sick of getting off of our faces and went to the cinema screen to see american beauty. on sunday they open the festival up to everyone. and as we walked through the market bit we realised that the whole place had turned into a fairground. none of us needed to say anything. it was like this amazing place full of hippies and people wearing masks a few hours ago and now it was just like the real world, no escapism just lots of cans of carling being crushed up and thrown on the floor
was wierd cos we all felt it, and my mate summed it up when we had a chat about it. i said "god that was fucking wierd, felt like we've done that before"
"maybe in a past life"
this was the year when fucking everybody went so they closed it down and put a wall around it
