I just threatened the BBC with legal action lol...They removed a post from the 'making music/unsigned bands forum' where I asked if any bands liked the look of my podcast and would like to submit work to me for playing on it. They said it contravined the rules because I stood to gain/profit from the posting. I sent a really angry reply.
| Quote: | So you 'keep it peel' do you? - that obviously doesn't include trying to give people the chance to promote music or anything like that less it damages the hegemony of your inane white boy indie drivel output run by fools and media lackey's like Colin 'I'll present anything' Murray. I expect a reply by the way. You are a public service after all.
I want a full and frank explanation of why you removed my post, a completely free, not for profit nor gain site which has EVERYTHING to do with the forum in which it was posted. (which I accessed through the BBC unsigned podcast site - a show that is strangely similar, yet mine is run totally for pleasure and passion, not by paid representatives of the BBC) If I don't recieve this reply or a reinstatement of my post, I may take legal action against the corporation for acting as a monopoly and misusing it's powers to stifle the competition. Don't try to fob me off with a 'read the FAQ' thanks. I am a license payer and as such deserve more respect than a brush off.
It's a sick joke when your station declares itself for unsigned music but then bans people from promoting it |
Am I being a cunt?

no. the bbc want you to assent to their perverted world view and it's only reasonable to challenge that. it's a classic conspiracy.

Well, they didn't reply...

They're so fucking precious about "not carrying advertising" that it's a joke. In their folk music forums, for instance (apparently ) they pull anything that's about clubs or music/singing sessions. Now, most of this type of event (especially the sessions) doesn't charge an entry fee -- it's just groups of people sitting in pub backrooms playing music. Even clubs that charge are run for love rather than money.
Utter, utter cunts.

Yet when people link to articles from 'established' commercial organs or tell of a large event they are attending, such as glastonbury or a gig by a major band they don't consider that advertising in my experience. So yer podcast or folk night made purely for the lurve, maaaan doesn't get a look in.
I have made a facebook group about this issue. Anyone who feels like it search for 'density of sound' in the groups bit and join!
