Missed your last entry before this one somehow :? That's a bit shit on the work front Are you looking for another job yet?

Crowgirl sounds like a bundle of laughs <touches wood Crowgirl isn't mavis's girling>

I was going to ask about the Paris effort, if there was a chance there etc. Good luck and don't spend all that bonus at once now!

I reckon you can mostly zone out inane comments and xtreme fad-following when they're not around toooooooo much - but that heat thing would really get to me. I can't bear being too hot Only another few weeks though ... you got another flatmate lined up yet?

Did you get the name Crowgirl from Charles de Lint by chance?
mauvais

...
wraeth

Immersion heater on all year Yeah, mostly it's a back up for if the boiler goes down for some reason - bloody hell that would have cost a fortune yes.

Caw Caw - OK gottit but these Crowgirls are much better fer yer elf

I think she'd drive me round the bend. But then I've never flatshared as such, lived with my bro a couple of times and of course shared with my ex but that's not really the same. Dunno that I could put up with someone that was that annoying tbh, I'd prolly poison em or summat
mauvais

...
wraeth

You need something untraceable imo

£20 not too bad specially for a house rather than a flat (that's right? You're in a house?) Could be that using the immersion heater was cheaper than having the main heating/water system on - or did you have both going?
mauvais

...
wraeth

I'm spending £58 a month for electricity in a two bed flat and £16 for gas - and I NEVER HAVE THE HEATING ON !!!1 (3rd floor so downstairs heats my flat nicely ta, radiators permanently turned off). Gas fired boiler and a gas hob so the rest is leccy. Can't work out why the bills are so high for just me ... it's a mystery :-/
Refused

Dear Mavis, I'm compelled to write this letter
In the hope that you may soon be getting better
I've a feeling you should go and see a doctor
If you haven't then you know you really oughta
I was worried so I went to see the vicar
But before I could confess he first confessed to be a stripper

Dear Mavis, it was very strange to see him
So I thought I'd write and ask for your opinion
Should I grass on him, report him to the cardinal
Or whether I should egg him on to turn professional
If I dob on him they'll call him plastic scouser
But the only thing the stripper vicar wears is plastic trousers

Mavis' opinion is all we really seek
Mavis' opinion is all we...

Should we lie while he's still alive
Should we lie while he's still alive
'Cos when the vicar strips he gets away with it

Dear Mavis, thought I'd follow up my letter
Drop a line about the fate of our poor vicar
Very tragically his time on earth is ended
Found him gagged and bound in stockings and suspenders
Dear Mavis, if you tell us what your thoughts are
And I hope that they're not biased 'cos you are the vicar's daughter

Mavis' opinion is all we really seek
Mavis' opinion is all we...

Should we lie now that he has died
Should we lie now that he has died
'Cos when the vicar strips he gets away with it

And we know him as our vicar
And by night a part-time stripper
And the vicar got suspended
In his stockings and suspenders
And he's making wine from water
While he dresses like his daughter
And we know that he's a rip off
'Cos we've seen him with his kit off

Should we lie now that he has died
Should we lie now that he has died
'Cos when the vicar strips he gets away with it

I have been gradually replacing them with environmental ones but you can't get those for halogen, can you? The pooters, hmmm, gotta keep one on for the back-up, could have a point there though <switches one off>. Still seems a lot though, ah well Fankoo bosky

You haven't had that great a time in the past few months, what with work an all. Sometimes tis good to draw in and get some quiet reflection. But that's my POV - a perennial recluse and proper old As long as it's not a touch of depression, it's not a wrong or strange thing imo

Hmm, my perception, fwiw over the last few months

Leading up to end of uni ... quite a few chats eg that air controller/flight pattern one, sticks in my mind for some reason. Light hearted mavis lots of the time, mebbe 70%. Lots of drawings and photos

Thesis. Get the degree. Celebratory mavis and we loved it too. Discussions about job options, decisions but seemed optimistic & chirpy

Nongham

Israel/Palestine war shizzle. Lots of anger, frustration

Chitty chatty type posts stop. Drawings carry on, but lots of war and blowing up as central theme. Stories instead of posts, no talking. Photos carry on but style diverges from the picture postcard trademark to ... I dunno, huge range of shizzle.

Bombscare has his work thing, and you get the redundancy warning lights flickering at the same time, where you work.

Nongham not inspiring for photos

New website

Oh I don't know. Seems to me as if you haven't been happy for last few months, increasingly so. You're not someone that wears his heart on his sleeve parading how you feel across the various boards. I just get the feeling that the last few months haven't worked out as you'd expected, and that you're not feeling like a happy chirpy inspired mavis atm. Or summat.

I might have made all that up ^^

Generic job descriptions are pants. A typical example of where I've always been so frustrated with my own profession - creating templates and 'competencies' which so often seem to be a flash method of creating something to hide behind and minimise the risk of discrimination claims and the like. Over the years I've become so sick of translating 'HR speak' and that's knowing the lingo! Ideally, a job description would be a basic 'You've got to be able to do 'x' 'y' and 'z' and you've got to be especially good at 'z'. This is what our organisation is like <honest description, good and bad>. These are our typical customers <description>. This is where we're trying to change things for the future <description>. These are our difficulties so you can pretty much expect that dealing with these take priority <description>. We tend to get on well with people who are <description>. This is our physical environment <description>' But they don't do that - do they? Most of the time not even honest when talking it through in an interview ... selling the job and organisation rather than describing and managing expectations. Meh, but that's just me going off into an HR rant.

No ties and relative youth are good and potentially liberating things. But freedom inhibits too, unless you have a degree of clarity about where you're heading - some kind of moveable map with signposts. Where do you want to be in 5 years? Work and life.

Hello mauvais, it is lovely to see you

I have done 970.2 miles on my bike. Am quite excited about the prospect of 1000. It's my second bikecomputahthing though. Was well over 1000 on my old one.

Another one? Cool Still have the last three in the changer in my evil petrol burning conveyance. I shall certainly reciprocate.

4k in 12 months? That is quite a lot of cycling. I probably only do 2k/year.

About to sign up for the London to Oxford though. Did London to Brighton last year - too many blurry people

You should come down to London for beers sometime innit.

There's a sofa here you're welcome too.

As long as you're not a psycho or owt.

I only really cycle to work. Haven't been out for pleasure much recently, but as winter turns to spring turns to summer, hopefully I'll be more inspired. Not so into the mud-splattering sort of cycling though. Also, not so much of it to be had round these parts. And as I discovered not so long ago, slick tyres + wet grass = ow.
mauvais

hiccup

If I lived where there was mud and trails and pretty posh pony girls, I would get knobbly tires I reckon. Not so much call for them round the north circular.

When I fell off my bike due to wet grass/slick tyre interface, I fell off right in front of a very pretty girl. I must have looked so cool...

My bike fall was actually quite impressive. Skidded on the grass on one side of a path, but ended up in a muddy heap on the other side of the path. I somehow managed to fall about 8ft to the left. Would love to see a video of it.
hiccup

Also, the last time I went over the handlebars, I managed to do it in slow motion whilst travelling at about 2mph. Which isn't easy, let me tell you.
