Meh, flyers do my head ingotta do a whole load of flyers, posters, signage and shit for a night club, but we aint got a brief. we're just both in agreement that victorian wallpaper was pretty fly, so i've been doing that

i like some of the elements, but the composition's not doing anything for me, and i think it's a bit flat and generic-illustrator.
perhaps some texture layers over the background and behind the principal foreground elements? also some sort of photographic/photorealistic elements, whacked down in opacity, preferably of people dancing/having a good time etc at the club (subliminal, like - no point doing ads if they're not reinforcing the message you're trying to get across) - that could, for instance, be a texture layer. also something to provide gender balance against the woman (otherwise the flyer risks antagonising/excluding sections of the potential audience, and therefore reducing the impact and functionality). any chance of working them da vinci magic tricks onto the lines? bit of convergence an' shit

yeah, well my folio is quite simlair to hers - ive always had a thing about magenta, pink n white too. pure coinsterance (or however you spell it). but i always like muted colours like mauve as well |

i was hoping you'd reply they're just very initial ideas, sort playing about with colour and elements first of all then take it from there. I want to get away from the generic illy thing and include some photos, don't want any of those circles, splash marks and things - going to put in some photos i reckon or actual sketches (DONE BY HAND) this is hte kinda thing i want: the only thing we know is taht the guy wants black women on the flyer  cos it is very much a black night club
but again, i want to get away from the silhouetted dancers with their arms in the air being broken up by scan lines and splat marks - you seen vault49s stuff? thats what i want but the middle man (the person between tp, myself and the nightclub owner) is a cock and won't let us speak to him, hence no brief 
it also has to be themed in some way and cos of this cock we don't know the theme

not my bag but he's made a killing out of flyers, i guess cos all his shit is original illustrations (like the other guys). which i think is the problem with most flyer designs, its just stock photography and shit - rather than 100% original work, but you don't generally get the time to do that.
