Anyone know owt about this lot. I like the cut of their gib having a skim read of the site but has anyone had any experiences with them before?

The 'doing stuff' bit was what I liked. Also, I was researching the campaign for a 4 day week (as a general concept, not education specific) and this lot came up top.

Yeah, they're a decent enough bunch. One thing to be aware of is that they tend to present themselves as something like a functioning union, which they're not at the moment -- less than 500 members in the UK at the moment, and that's being generous.
This said, they do have a few "job branches" around the country -- i.e. where there's a nucleus of members in one workplace. Think they're doing quite well in Leicester, for instance. Probably quite a few members up your way as well, since there's *cough* something of an overlap between membership of the IWW and membership of the Anarchist Federation.

Another thing is to be cautious of anything in the "employment rights advice" section of their website. I looked it over a couple of weeks ago, and even I (ex-union rep) could spot a few glaring errors, so god knows what wraeth would make of it.

actually i've heard that when they get big the iww have been remarkably like mafioso. but pro working class.

to be honest i never do anything political just because it alwaysseems so powerless
