SIJOSijo is Korean traditional poetry, and It would be nagasaki if everyone contributed a poem to the coolestthingever annual
They're short poems similiar to haiku.
They consist of three lines, each line is between 14 and 16 syllables, but the final total of syllables should be between 44 to 46 syllables, so you can't have three lines of 14 syllables for example or three lines at 16 syllables.
It can be narrative in style or have a theme, ie a problem in line 1 , a development in line 2 and a resolution in line 3, like this sijo poem which is one of the most famous
You ask how many friends I have? Water and stone, bamboo and pine.
The moon rising over the eastern hill is a joyful comrade.
Besides these five companions, what other pleasure should I ask?
but it doesn't have to be thematic, as long as it follows the syllable rules it can be about anyfink.
oh and the poems were meant to be sung.
so come on poets do your stuff !!!!
