Button didn't do any of the requests
the button

Bad button. \/
Ninjadmin

serious requests

a 70s bowie song like ch-ch-ch-changes
a tindrsticks song cos that would really suit your style
a stone roses song cos they are really popular round these parts
the internationale or soviet anthem or solidarity if you dare (it will be better than billy bragg's version anyway )
the button

Cheers for those, ninj.

I must admit I've not heard owt by Tindersticks. Hunky Dory's my favourite Bowie album, and I used to able to play most of it when I was a nipper, so I should be able to practice up some of them. As for Stone Roses, I can just about struggle through I am the resurrection. I was steering clear of the political stuff for this one, but I do have the odd one in my repertoire.
Ninjadmin

tindersticks at their best (last one is a cover tho)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AD8HxxCTqxI

they are from the same generation as all the britpop shit, i think that's why a lot of people missed out on them cos they don't fit into a category
the button

Cheers for those.

Just waiting for the first one to download.
Ninjadmin

listen to them at least 3 times each and you'll fall in love

I really liked Tindersticks also. So.... if I was going to buy one of their CDs, which one would it be?

there is a compilation from 1997 they made called 'Donkeys' and I just looked them up and found out that they released a sort of 'Greatest Hits' record in 2004 called 'Working for the Man' but it doesn't look as good as Donkeys
the button

Ta.

the first album is lovely, in a makes-me-want-to-cry kinda way

Isn't it just?

What I ended up doing is buying the first two albums off Amazon, because there was a special deal if you got the both of them. Haven't listened to the second one yet, as I'm still trying to absorb the first one really.

If things go according to plan, stand by for some more dour northern shite later on this weekend.
tangerinebreem

Do you know 'Crooked Fingers' ? Lovely dark acoustic stuff, especially the eponymous first Album or 'Bring on Snakes.'

I don't. One thing about this thread is I'm getting some good recommendations.

The immediate threat of more dour northern shite has passed.

I ended up just practicing a load of stuff. "I know," I thought, "I'll print off the words of a load of really long folk ballads off the internet, that I usually can't remember all of." So long, in fact, that I fucked my voice (which is fairly fucked to start with) rehearsing.
Ninjadmin

really i request you do another show
the button

Oh, go on then. Since it's you.
