It is really sad. Especially when i see the collapsed schools and them trying to get to the many kids inside. I keep thinking of the students i used to teach.
The numbers are staggering, but small given China's population. I'm trying to imagine what would happen if a quake of that size struck one of the major cities on the east coast and the number of casualties are really imcomprehendable.

i've been reading an excellent book about china )the great wall by julia lovell) and it convinces me more and more that same as america china is really just a bunch of countries like europe or the middle east

would be cool to visit chinas. i dunno tho, i like the sound of some of the national parks in siberia. and china's further away.
