who will accept a musical challengeto write a short piece of 12 tone on their laptop - or whatever is used now. and post on here?
if i ever live to retire that's what i hope to do with my retirement. write one 12 tone song that i like.
| Quote: | | Twelve-tone technique (also dodecaphony and, especially in British usage, twelve-note composition) is a method of musical composition devised by Arnold Schoenberg. The technique is a means of ensuring that all 12 notes of the chromatic scale are sounded as often as one another in a piece of music. All 12 notes are thus given more or less equal importance, and the music avoids being in a key. The technique was tremendously influential on composers in the mid-20th century. |

Tis more about security than viruses tbh bob
|
bob
|
what security problems are there
how do you steal music then
|
wraeth

The security thing is more about vulnerability if your system isn't secure. But also there's no anonymity
I get music from myspace, multiply etc. Also from here: http://skreemr.com/

Yeah that's right - but I thought bob wanted Tim's version of hallelujah and the other one ... probably got it wrong though
|
bob

i don't like alot of indie bootlegs - even the white stripes get on my nerves. but it's not like the buckleys are really indie imo.

i like it!
it doesn't make any sense and did make me laugh. 'course you lose the pauses and that in the song, but IMO you bring out something i'm not sure what - you make his voice sound more tonal or something.
|
Ninjadmin
|
i may have a proper crack at it sober and stuff
it's a beautiful song
|
wraeth
|
I listened to it
I'd like to hear a sober one an all though.
It's a lovely song

DrJ
|
One aspect of creating twelve-tone music is the combinatory theory, whereby each hexachord of the twelve-tone row is combined simultaneously, thus ensuring that the piece is atonal. This can extent to various permutations of the row, i.e. in different transpositions and retrograde and inversion (and the inversion of the retrograde).
This can also be used in smaller cells (i.e. tri- and tetrachords).
One interesting thing Elliot Carter introduced was, was that, once all the twelve tones has been introduced in a piece, various segments (all the various aforementioned -chords) can essentially be used as artificial modes.
