windows live messengerwhen i try to check my email from messenger it always opens IE.. does anyone know how i change that so it uses firefox as the default browser? ive been through all the options i can see and havent found a way to change it - is it possible or is this just a shitty windows thing?

go into Firefox>Tools>Options>Main>down the bottom (SystemDefaults) Firefox as Default browser.
Tick...test...does that work?

no unfortunately not, firefox is my default browser for everything else, its just this bloody messenger thing thats being difficult. it seems set up to go through IE no matter what. i cant find an option to change it.

howabout uninstalling Firefox and then Messenger...then re-install Firefox and then Messenger.
to be honest I did this soooooooooooooooo long ago I ferget how I did it but I did...EVEN tho' I had ooodles telling me Nah_blah_blah_blah... 
could be somewhere in about:config in mOz?

Close all progs down...rebooot...then BEFORE you do anything else....
I reckon...
Start>Control Panel>Internet Options> Programs and make sure that IE is not checked as your default browser? :-/...Uncheck + Apply...reboot and make sure setting is taken by doing the above agin...but leave well alone if unticked still...then look that Moz is still the same(that is ticked and checked)...then launch MSN and test.

i updated windows messenger to v. 8.1 and firefox to 2.0.0.3 yesterday and thats why everythings changed.. but ill try that. thanks for trying to help

that'll be it then..the Update of MSN will have given Default back to IE...do the Start>Settings>Control Panel thing then then then?
