| I've got my new dslr - so next step is to get some lenses. But can you explain how they differ? All I know at the moment is that telephoto means you can zoom in closer so take pictures from further away, macro means you can take picures of tiny things up close, and wide angle means you can take dem roundy shots. |

Well do you know what F numbers are and how they relate to depth of field and to some extent how they effect bokeh?
What do you want to do with it, landscape, portraits, general, sports, wildlife? |

oh, sorry I never saw your reply. Yes I understand F numbers, and depth of field. And I get that some lenses allow you to go to higher or lower f numbers (am I right there?) but I don't understand what people mean when they say a lens is "fast" or "slow".
