This morning, at 8am, having only has 1/2 an hours sleep on the back seat of my car in a council estate on the outskirts of Northampton, I had breakfast in Buddie's American Diner. Scrambled eggs, thick-sliced ham, sauté potatoes, beans, mushrooms and as much coffee as I could drink (three cups, as it turned out). It was all rather pleasant, in a slightly hallucinatory, sleep-deprived sort of way.

Two rashers of thick cut dry cured bacon. Organic free range eggs scrambled the old-fashioned way with butter. Fresh ceppes and grilled Italian tomatoes. Sourdough toast spread with French butter and Lavazza expresso coffee.....

I could do adverts for M&S at this rate....

A large white roll filled with cheddar cheese, sliced tomato and a large dollop of Nando's peri peri sauce.

I also had an Asian Pear. It was like a cross between a pear and an apple. It was quite nice.

I am going to have a cup of tea now. Milk, no sugar.
