"boombox - lovingly crafted mixtapes and mixes"

for bandwidth reasons, mixes are only up for a week before being archived to a private section, which is only available to mixers or people donating moolah, so get in sharpish if you see summat you like the sound of

the current must-have is the kleptones concept album '24 hours' - awesome stuff

also checkout the latest radio clash podcast, which is a kleptones special, with an extended interview with eric kleptone.

oh, and there's a kleptones blog, and a kleptones myspace page for your delectation, too...

(everything kleptones-related i'd recommend - grab hold of the flaming lips & queen bootleg albums, and the 'never trust originality' ep in particular)

!!! only just noticed

in honour, i'd like to point people in the direction of west of bastard's latest wobcast - which squeezes in a spanish version of toni basil's 'hey mickey', shitmat, madonna vs musical youth, dj c, classic lionel vinyl, the klaxons' cover of 'the bouncer', the favela funk stylings of bonde de role, and much much more...

they's from the brizzle shizzle, btw

haven't updated this in ages...

anyway, here's a collection of picks for you to check out:

video mashup by james p johnson of arty fufkin's beastie/jane's addiction clash, 'been caught stealing your rump'

'wheelie' is another insane megamix-style offering courtesy of the very great bug - all car/driving themed songs gaffa-taped together with much chutzpah

'i didn't know the boys wanna be her' is an impressive peaches-vs-gary glitter number by dj paul v

the most charming juxtaposeur from west of bastard (i met him, andrewherring and lumpy the other day to discuss project x - all lovely chaps) has done a super junglistic version of the white stripes...

also, the seventh wobcast is now out - as ever high quality stuff, pretty much my favourite music podcast, easing out radio clash, which is no mean feat

dj schmolli (see also dj schmolli multiply & dj schmolli myspace & dj schmolli musicbuilder) has a great hiphop boot out at the mo, 'mista nasty one minute', real punchy

mail from everyone's favourite-but-one board ( ) gybo:

Quote:
First things first - like every other message board on the internet, we're subject to spam registrations. In order to get rid of them, we're about to delete all members who have not posted.SO, if you've never posted, then now's the time to do it. There's even a special thread for people who've not posted before! ( here: http://tinyurl.com/hazqm ) You've got until next Friday, 11th August 2006.

-----

Ok, onto the other stuff...

There's been a couple of wee changes recently. The 'GYBO - Direct board' ( http://tinyurl.com/he75z )is for completed cleared tunes - original tunes, band demos, remixes of bands that have approved the remix for download etc. There's direct links to mp3s in there, but please - don't post links to copyrighted tunes in there. That's naughty.
Also, the 'Tweak' board has returned - for people who's tunes perhaps need a bit more work. Plus, after the popularity of the 'World Cup' board, there's now a permanent Football board called The Terracing ( http://tinyurl.com/esdqc ).

-----

Chat threads that are currently floating boats are:

"m'ashups.com is finally up and running" - started off being a spam thread, and got hijacked with some of the worst puns ever seen on gybo. Also sees the long awaited return of GYBO legend 'LV15'. [ http://tinyurl.com/ew258 ]

"GYBO TOP 50 ALBUMS EVER - VOTE NOW" - thread started by Cowgirl - get your votes in! [ http://tinyurl.com/mycec ]

"A Youtube Thread cos we need one" - does what it says. Very funny. [ http://tinyurl.com/ol2th ]

-----

We've said it before, but we're going to try to do a regular mail-out with features n stuff, and even some competitions. Competition? here's one....

To be in with a chance of winning new albums from Peaches and Freelance Hellraiser, tell me what my favourite album is. Hint - it's here: http://www.xfmscotland.co.uk/mcsleazy . Email the answer to competition@gybo.org by next Friday. Winner will be picked at random, and you can enter from anywhere in the world! (Remember to include your GYBO username and real name too).
