i'll see if i can be arsed to keep this updated
story so far:
February 2nd I went out to a reggae party thing with quite a lot of bands i wanted to see, but because i drank so much and took so much mdma i missed everything
after that i decided i wasn't drinking during the week, and it is working to some extent in that i don't have this constant desire to get more drunk, and it also helps me dealing with the 'one won't hurt' feeling
so anyways, just finished week 4. i did get drunk on tuesday cos it was the first time for ages me and my brother got the chance to get drunk together
and i had 3 cans last night (socially)
so yeah, all encouragement etc, bring it on |

Very impressive willpower skillz there ninj.
It's taken me about 6 months to break the habit of drinking every night, but feel much better for it. Plus the doctor told me the other day that my liver is producing enzymes caused by alcohol damage. Not to a worrying extent, but a reminder of your own mortality is always a good motivator I reckon.
Good luck on your journey on the weekday wagon.
This beer tastes fucking lush though. |

| Quote: | Three wheels on my wagon,
And I’m still rolling along
The Cherokees are chasing me
Arrows fly, right on by
But I’m singing a happy song
I’m singing a higgity, haggity, hoggety, high
Pioneers, they never say die
A mile up the road there’s a hidden cave
And we can watch those Cherokees
Go galloping by
SPOKEN: “George, they’re catching up to us!”
“Get back in the wagon woman!”
Two wheels on my wagon,
And I’m still rolling along
Them Cherokees are after me
Flaming spears, burn my ears
But I’m singing a happy song
I’m singing a higgity, haggity hoggety, high
Pioneers, they never say die
Half a mile up the road there’s a hidden cave
And we can watch those Cherokees
Go galloping by
SPOKEN: “Duh, Paw? Are you sure this is the right road?”
“Will you hush up? You and your maps!”
One wheel on my wagon,
And I’m still rolling along
Them Cherokees after me
I’m all in flames, at the reins
But I’m singing a happy song
I’m singing a higgity, haggity hoggety, high
Pioneers, they never say die
Right around that turn there’s a hidden cave
And we can watch those Cherokees
Go galloping by
SPOKEN: “George? Should I get the bag of beads and trinkets?”
“Woman, I know what I’m doing!”
No wheels on my wagon,
So I’m not rolling along
The Cherokees captured me
They look mad, things look bad
But I’m singing a happy song
SPOKEN: “C’mon all you Cherokees sing along with me!” |
New Christy Minstrels.

Yeah, me too. After years of it.

I had that in my 20s.
I went to the doc's cos I was getting this numbness that was sort of spreading around my body, and some of my joints were swelling up. I was shitting it in case I had MS, & I had all blood tests & that. The doctor told me it was "transitory arthalgia," which is all well and good, except it was the symptoms I'd described but translated into latin. Well done for going to med school. |

Never had so much free booze in my life. I'd never drunk champagne before I took a vow of poverty.
I think it was a sinister plot to get you so pissed you were incapable of shagging. Unsuccessfully in my case. |

good on ya.
I'm gonna try not drinking during the week once i start work on monday.
China was fucking awful. Some days I used to drink as soon as I woke up, whether I had to work or not. Beer was everywhere and stupidly cheap and no one batted an eyelid at a pisshead staggering down the street at 11am.
The last two months in China I really started to take things too far. I used to average 6 pints a day (on my own ), and when I went out with mates we had 12 hour binges. Cheap hash and pills didn't help either.
I've been a lot better since i've come back to england but its difficult because there's so much choice and so many different types of booze which i've missed/never tried over the past 3 years. On Tuesday I spent 15 minutes in the booze section of Sainsbury's just deciding which ale to buy.
I've still been drinking almost every day but i've limited it to 2 or 3, and only after dark. Hopefully i'll get back to the position i was in 4 years ago: only drinking when i go out with mates, maybe once or twice a week at the most. |

i wasn't that lonely in china, but my gf worked long hours compared to my 80 minutes a day, and all my mates were just as bad as me.
sometimes i used to drink just to block out the daily crap i had to deal with. |

Very true. There were plenty of times when i'd suddenly realise "Shit! I'm the only white guy on this bus/train/subway. Everyone knows it and they've had a right good stare at me." Took me about 2 years to get used to that. |

No more filing.
If they sack you, you could always put your CDs in alphabetical order. |

| You could always tip the filing cabinets onto the floor so you have to do all the filing again, thus securing your job for another couple of weeks, at least. |
