It's up there with Starship Troopers only not quite so good.

Deep Impact is waaaaaaaaay better. I have attempted to watch Armageddon three times, and fallen asleep every single time.

watched the new dawn of the dead today, bluddy fantastic, really nice camera work and special effects, acting was occasionally so-so and the plot was a bit hit and miss but still one of the best movies ive seen this year.

i love eternal sunshine. michel gondry is a fucking don. don't think there is a single shot that isn't beautifully done

i watched usual suspects last night, it's still surprisingly good, hasn't aged at all. supervillains are teh cool

I just watched TMNT.

Very good effects and a welcome change to the 'men in suits' of the previous three movies. The animation is some of the best i've seen. The effective use of lighting and shadows really added to the atmosphere of the film.

The plot, although original, is very predictable and too fast, and the charcters are'nt the strongest except of course the relationship between Leonardo and Raphael.

The fight scenes were cool, but not as violent as most would like (they're supposed to be ninjas!), but that's just a TMNT trend. I would have also liked to see more of Splinter fighting, he didn't do much at all and I was expecting him to pull off some really cool moves ala Yoda in ATOC.

Overall... not bad, but could have been better. Worth watching if you're a die-hard Turtles fan.

This is what I went to see this evening at the Gate Cinema in Notting Hill. The cinema is ace - armchairs and tables to put yer glass of wine on

Much busier than I expected. The Gate Cinema has loads going on e.g. Sunday breakfast showings

Tis proper cinema and I wish it was nearer me. Anyway, well worth making the trip there. It's not too dear either. Here's the IMDB review which I can't improve on really (only to add, that it's all in subtitles, which means a certain amount of concentration needed

Yesterday me, the button and Seyton went to see this film at the Barbican.

When this Swedish film was first released in 1922 it was banned in every country in Europe

It's a silent film combining fact and fiction and divided into seven chapters. Described as a 'brew of the horrific, gross and darkly comedic, Häxan chronicles grave robbing, repressed eroticism, possessed nuns, and a satanic Sabbath'. The Director - Benjamin Christensen - takes you on a journey from early mediaeval times to (then) modern day inviting you to draw the conclusion that the witches of the Middle Ages suffered the same mass hysteria as did the mentally ill centuries later. Persecution and oppression of the mentally ill, elderly, poor, infirm and women.

Some parts of the film were extremely funny in a dark, grotesque, disturbing way. Some of the shots were beautiful, I particularly liked the dream of an old woman falling asleep in poverty and wretchedness and waking up in a fourposter bed hung with red tapestries and covered in copper coins

But what made it for me was the live score that ccompanied the film. Geoff Smith is an amazing artist on the hammered dulcimer. He played three of them (microtonal, chromatic and diatonic) and also some word-free vocals. Most atmospheric

He did a Q&A at the end - and of course there was a witch in the audience who pointed out that witches don't believe in the devil

I want his CD & the other scores that he has done; Faust, The Cabinet of Dr Caligari and Nosferatu
