|
I bought my camera (canon S80) less than a year and a half ago. It's all been fine and dandy up til now, but today I took it out of its case to find that when I turned it on, the lens only half extended and after that was totally stuck. The camera made clicking noises for a bit and then showed "E18" and just died
I can still put it into review mode but that's it. Googling I find that this problem is common for this kind of camera. Really fucked off I didn't properly research before. Paid 300 quid for the fucking thing. |

that fucking sucks
you can probably pay to get it fixed, but it is worth researching before you buy a camera, just ask on urban cos there are a lot of good photographers on there |

| There are some pics on there but I can still download them. However reading on the interweb this may be either a battery prob (it may have run out halfway through opening) or a weird problem which I can fix by plugging the cable into the computer. Just charging the battery now. So saving full rant mode for a bit later. |

| Same here. I carry spare batteries with me now when I take my camera anywhere cos it's such a pain if the lens gets stuck - can't get it back in the case etc. (Mine's a fuji) |

| We bought it in march 06, the guarantee for a year. Luckily mrs RD was able to turn the 3 into an 8 on the receipt, so today we took it into teh canon shop in town. They can fix it, cos the new fabricated date is just inside the guarantee date. If it hadn't been, we would have had to pay 1400 RMB! (almost 100 quid!) |
