i'm in an argument (more like trying to start an argument) on newcastle beats, that the drumnbass scene is so stale because the only real big names are the ones from 10 years ago

and the likes of panacea and tech itch never get to play the big nights not because not enough people like their stuff, but simply because the 'big dogs' like to keep it all to themselves

i haven't bought a dnb record for about 5 years, and i haven't been to turbulence (the bigroom dnb night in newcastle) for about 3 years, so i don't have a clue

am i wrong? am i wrong??

Why do you think the dnb scene is stale? There's loads of stuff going on. Not that I ever go to anything, mind.

i don't think it's what it was
but i have no evidence or argument for that,
except i don't go anymore.

the last time i went it seemed tired, like people didn't know if they were loved up ravers or edgy junglists, so they didn't pass as either. the "big names" have always been an issue, since 2000 anyway, it's just that now, if you're right, the safety valve has broken.

Sounds to me like the biggest night in Newcastle is stale, rather than the whole scene.

But I'm just saying that to have an argument really.

the thing is that it's going from strength to strength in terms of people going, and plenty of people seem to enjoy it

they do get newer acts up as well

but even in terms of record releases it seems to move incredibly slowly

Phobia who runs the biggest night just pointed out that we have different tastes, which fucked my troll up

I dunno if you use iTunes, but there's some great podcasts on there, DNB Arena and so on.

I'm a bit out of touch, but it seems a good variety. The only thing new I've listened to in the last couple of years was the Logistics album. I don't like Pendulum much, though...

I would also recommend the DnB Arena podcast.
