cyborg robofilth roaming streets of bristol!!!

Terminator cops turn Bart Nil into post-SkyNet wasteland!!!

"Eat my authoriteh, civilian scum!!!"

Quote:
Police in inner city Bristol have been fully equipped with the latest technology to tackle anti-social behaviour, drug dealing and public order incidents.

The New Deal Neighbourhood Team, which covers Barton Hill, Lower Easton and Avonmeads, are now kitted out with head cams for their regular helmets or cycle helmets.

They are also fully kitted out with mountain bikes to travel around their beat, making them the only mobile team with a filming capability.

...PC Stuart King, Beat manager for the New Deal area, said: "Using the head cams is not only a benefit when it comes to charging and convicting offenders, but it is also a deterrent to potential offenders and provides an element of protection to the team.

"I have tested the system in a vast range of police duties, from patrolling on foot to patrolling on cycles.

"I have recently used the system when investigating burglaries, in public order incidents and when tackling drug dealing."

..."The Neighbourhood Team has been working really closely with the community, meeting the residents, learning about their issues and concerns and together with them, finding solutions.

I do like the bit about "a vast range of police duties, from patrolling on foot to patrolling on cycles" - err, you mean, walking and cycling...

record breaking astronautte!!!

Quote:
Sunita Williams, a US astronaut aboard the International Space Station, has set a new record for the longest unbroken space flight by a woman.

...She earlier set a record for the longest space walk by a woman, reaching 22 hours and 27 minutes.

...In her six months in space, Mrs Williams has also "run" the Boston Marathon on a treadmill.

killer robot mows dane down dead!!!

http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/3...lls-danish-man-begins-resistance/

Quote:
In what we surely hope isn't the opening salvo of the robot insurrection, a 45-year old Danish municipal worker was tragically killed by an industrial robotic lawnmower this afternoon, after the unit tumbled off a slope and onto the poor fellow doing his job. Although we've seen quite a few robotic lawnmowers, we're not too familiar with the RC-controlled Dvorak Spider 01 unit the man was using; our only hope is that this is, of course, an isolated incident.

"an isolated incident"

*cautiously edges upstairs*

*barricades door*

*lets lawn grow wild*

build a balloon-powered nanorover!!!

from http://spaceplace.nasa.gov/en/kids/muses1.shtml (see also pdf instruction sheet)

Quote:
Roving a mini-"planet" calls for a "mini-rover." The Japanese are sending a spacecraft to Asteroid 4660 Nereus in 2002. With the spacecraft will be a sample return vehicle and a little rover just a couple of inches high. The "nanorover" ("nano" meaning very tiny) is designed and built by the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The rover will explore the surface of the asteroid and take pictures.

You can build a nanorover too. Try this one, made from three styrofoam meat trays. This project is a little bit hard, so you might want to ask a grown-up or big brother or sister to do it with you.

ninja might need a growed up to deal with the scissors :P

time travel pyramid scheme!!!

http://www.timetravelfund.com/

Quote:
We establish a fund in current time. You make a small contribution to the fund, and in a few hundred years that small amount grows to a very large amount. From that fund, moneys will be taken and used to retrieve you, perhaps seconds after you join, perhaps even moments before your recorded death, perhaps some other point in your lifetime. Further, the fund may even pay to have you "rejuvenated" medically (assuming this is scientifically possible at that time,) and support you financially for a number of years. (Note: Retrieving you just before the moment of death is just one possible scenario, but one that would avoid any Star Trek(TM) type paradoxes. There are an unlimited number of other possibilities, and we do not know what they will do, we can only make reasonably informed guesses.)

the real star wars: nutty astronaut up for attempted murder!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/6335947.stm

Quote:
Capt Nowak reportedly banged on the car window and asked for a lift, and then to use Ms Shipman's mobile phone.

Ms Shipman refused, but rolled down the window when Capt Nowak began to cry.

Ms Shipman was then attacked with pepper spray, the statement says. She managed to drive to a car park booth and police were called.

An officer followed Capt Nowak and she was stopped allegedly carrying the wig, an air rifle, a steel mallet, rubber tubing, dustbin bags, black gloves and a knife.

A search of her vehicle revealed pepper spray and e-mails between Ms Shipman and Cmdr Oefelein, as well as Ms Shipman's home address and hand written directions to the house, police said.
